Cavan S. Boyle joined Ernstrom & Dreste, LLP in 2022 as an experienced advocate and legal practitioner, bringing a broad professional background that includes significant litigation and courtroom experience. Cavan will continue that focus as an associate attorney and, upon admission to the New York Bar, will provide services to clients in all aspects of construction and surety claims and litigation, as well as other complex commercial matters. He currently assists with case and claim strategy on a wide variety of subjects fundamental to the construction and surety industries, providing legal research and writing, and support with the firm’s pleadings, motion and discovery practice for its clients.

Cavan moved to the Rochester area with his family from Boston, Massachusetts. Cavan most recently worked for several years at a well-respected law firm in Massachusetts’ North Shore area, where his practice involved general civil litigation, injury law, and criminal defense, including as a Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services Bar Advocate program attorney. Prior to that, Cavan worked in his father’s private law practice in his hometown of Littleton, New Hampshire. There, Cavan represented New Hampshire and Massachusetts clients in an array of legal matters, such as family law, criminal defense, and general civil litigation at both the district court and superior court level. In these capacities, Cavan honed his skills as a litigator and zealous advocate for his clients, and gained extensive courtroom experience.

Cavan obtained his law degree in 2013 at Suffolk University Law School in Boston and is licensed to practice law in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2009 from Bates College, where he was captain of the Men’s Rugby Club. Before enrolling in law school, Cavan worked as a recovery aide at a rehabilitation facility for adolescents suffering from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. His experience there continues to serve his principled approach as an attorney.
